Seven Days in June
HCAO is partnering with Indivisible East Portland to bring you 7 days with 7 demonstrations of why health care is broken and why we fight for universal health care.
Join us throughout the week for one of our many educational events. This will be followed up by a candle light vigil for all those who have or will lose their lives due to medicaid funding cuts.
Lastly, rally with us on June 7th, 3pm at Dawson Park for an hour of inspirational speeches, next steps and also a little bit of fun.

7 Days in June Event List
Monday, June 1st at 6pm: Community conversation on why the current system is broken, why universal health care is the path forward and how we will get to a vote in 2028.

Tuesday, June 2nd at 6:30pm: Health Care Workers Panel, our medical system doesn't work for health care workers and it doesn't work for patients. Hear directly from those who work in the trenches every day about what is going on. Ask your burning questions!

Wednesday, June 3rd: An open mic night for spoken word poetry and personal stories. Share your health care stories in a safe and healing space!

Thursday, June 4th at 6pm: A lecture on what HR1 is. We know it's causing serious problems and is the reason that so many people will lose health care. But how and why does it do that? Come for a detailed conversation with Rebecca H. on what this looks like. There will be time at the end for a Q&A

Friday, June 5th at 8pm: Candle light vigil for all of those who have lost their lives from lack of health care coverage. We will have some brief remarks by speakers. Then we will share a moment of silence as we reflect and mourn for those we've lost.

Saturday, June 6th at 4pm: Letter writing campaign to let legislators know that we are their constituents and we want universal health care now! This will be a fun and social time to share space with one another while also doing action. Our leadership team will guide you in writing to your legislators. We are holding this event at Panera Bread to coincide with the HCAO fundraiser on that day!

Sunday, June 7th at 3pm: We invite the entire community to join us for our huge rally on the last day of our 7 days in June! We need change now, so let's demonstrate that with this gathering. Hear from legislators that are working with us to effect change and individuals who have suffered under the current system. There may also be some fun games and activities.
